On the morning of January 18th, the  groundbreaking ceremony for the new campus of FPNU (South Wumashan Campus) was solemnly held.

“I hereby announce the commencement of the provincial key project – the construction of South Wumashan Campus of FPNU”, announced by Lai Hairong, the Secretary of FPNU Party Committee, marked the official start of the construction project of the FPNU new campus (South Wumashan Campus).

Wu Keshou, the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of FPNU, delivered a speech on behalf of the university. He expressed sincere gratitude to the provincial Party Committee, provincial government, higher-level departments, local Party Committees and governments, and the whole society for their great care and support for the development of the university and the construction of the new campus.

He pointed out that the construction of the new campus is a  major project for FPNU to  thoroughly carry out Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, better implement the development orientation, fulfil the development mission, and accelerate the construction of a high-level polytechnic normal university with distinctive characteristics.

It is a major initiative of FPNU to serve the national significant development strategy and the construction of new Fujian, and to speed up the construction of a first-class application oriented university at a higher starting point.

What’s more, the construction is also an important measure for FPNU to improve educational conditions,  enhance people’s well-being, strengthen the foundation of development, and to improve the sense of gain and happiness among teachers and students, marking a milestone in the university’s educational progress.

He emphasized that the university as a whole should transform the care of superiors, the enthusiastic support from local communities and the earnest expectations of the teachers,students and alumni into a  powerful driving force to strive for excellence. He urged the university to educate and nurture talent for the Party and the country, to work hard and pragmatically, to overcome difficulties, to forge ahead and accelerate the high-quality development of FPNU, so as to  make new and greater contributions to vigorously compose the new chapter in the comprehensive construction of a socialist modernized country.

“We need you, we are one!” on behalf of Fuqing Municipal Party Committee and Municipal government, Wu Yongzhong, Deputy Secretary of Fuqing Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Fuqing, , extended warm congratulations to FPNU and all its faculty and students. He expressed heartfelt thanks to individuals from all walks of life who have long  cared about the education in Fuqing.

He said that over the past 47 years, the people of Fuqing have witnessed the transformation of FPNU from nothing to something, from small to large, as well as the university’s adherence to the virtue of moral integrity, perseverance and truth-seeking.

He also said that the    establishment of the new campus is not only a milestone in FPNU development but also a significant contribution to Fuqing’s educational history. He hoped that FPNU will take the construction of the new campus as a fresh starting point and strive to thrive, grow, and strengthen in the fierce competition among universities.

Chen Quanfu, the enterprise representative and chairman of XINFUXING GLASS expressed in his speech the strong confidence strengthened by the construction of the new campus in city development, talent gathering and industrial prosperity. “Let’s extend your hands, we walk together and never give up!”He stated that he would fully support the development of FPNU, continuously deepen the integration of industry, science and education, and create a new situation of school-enterprise cooperation which featuring mutual benefits, win-win results and joint development.

Ke Yingzhong, the representative of FPNU alumnus, the leader of Xiamen Alumni Association and the general manager of Xidelong Furniture Co., Ltd., conveyed best wishes for the construction of the new campus and the development of FPNU. He indicated that all alumnus are participants and witnesses of the development of their Alma Mater, and they will strive to contribute as builders of the university’s future development. With practical actions, they aim to help FPNU create more brilliant success and glory.

The leaders and representatives of guests attending the ceremony wielded shovels to lay the cornerstone for the construction of the new campus, jointly lay the foundation for the project.

The construction project of the new campus (south of Wumashan) is located in Longjiang Street, Fuqing, covering an area of 249 acres with a planned investment of 1.18 billion yuan. It will include facilities such as an academic exchange centre, teaching buildings, practical training buildings and a library, totaling approximately 150,000 square meters of construction area. While ensuring functional applicability and convenience, the design of the campus actively explores a contemporary way to integrate the beauty of architecture and nature, creating a modern university campus that connects livability, learning, appreciation, and recreation through scenic natural surroundings. Once completed, the campus will expand the university’s capacity from the current 12,000 to 15,000 students, with comprehensive improvements and upgrades to the overall campus infrastructure.
